There are three main types of blocks (panels) involved in each chart:
- Charting Area - a charting area is panel that displays a chart of a certain type. Depending on the type of chart displayed inside the charting area, the charting area may also include settings for axes, walls and other decorations that are specific for each charting type. Nevron Chart for SharePoint supports multiple charting areas. See Chart Areas for more info.
- Legend - a legend is a panel, that displays information about the chart series or the chart series data points. The content of the legend is automatically populated. For each chart series you can individually specify whether it displays series information or data point information inside the legend to which it is assigned. Each charting series can be associated to exactly one legend, however you can have multiple legends that display information from arbitrary series. See Legends for more info.
- Title - a title is the most simple type of panel. It simply displays a text string that is generally used title the chart. Nevron Chart for SharePoint supports multiple titles. See Titles for more info.
The arrangement of the chart areas, legends and titles is described in the The Chart Layout topic.
The Charting Areas, Legends and Titles are all edited from sub-tabs of the main Chart Page. When the chart web part is connected to a data source, the Chart Page is the first displayed page, when you run The Chart Designer.
It is important to know that all properties that reside in the Chart Page are recorded in the Pivot Properties, and hence the default scope of their evaluation is the Pivot scope. See
Pivot Engine - Getting Started for more information.
