    Axis Ticks
    In This Topic

Ticks are represented as lines that can appear on both sides of the scale ruler. There are two types of ticks:

    – Major Ticks - these ticks appear at values on the scale depending on the current step selected by the scale for decoration. For more details check out the Numeric Scale and Categorical Scale topics.

    - Minor Ticks - these ticks appear between major ticks on the scale. Note that when the axis is in categorical scale mode it will not display minor ticks.

     Major Ticks

Major ticks appear at values on the scale depending on the current step chosen for tick decoration. The following settings apply to major ticks:

Major Tick Placement - defines the placement of major ticks relative to the axis ruler. The possible options are:

    - None - major ticks are not visualized.

    - Cross - major ticks cross the ruler line and appear on both the inner and outer side of the ruler. This is the default mode.

    - Outside - major ticks appear at the outer side of the ruler and do not obscure the chart area.

    - Inside - major ticks appear at the inner side of the ruler.

Major Tick Length - defines the length of the major ticks.

Major Tick Stroke Style - invokes the stroke style dialog allowing you to control the stroke settings applied on major ticks.

     Minor Ticks

Minor ticks appear between major ticks and their density is controlled through the "Minor Tick Count" setting when the axis is operating in number or angular mode. The following settings apply to minor ticks:

Minor Tick Placement  - defines the placement of minor ticks relative to the axis ruler. The possible options are:

    - None - minor ticks are not visualized.

    - Cross - minor ticks cross the ruler line and appear on both the inner and outer side of the ruler. This is the default mode.

    - Outside - minor ticks appear at the outer side of the ruler and do not obscure the chart area.

    - Inside - minor ticks appear at the inner side of the ruler.

Minor Tick Length - defines the length of the minor ticks.

Minor Tick Stroke Style - invokes the stroke style dialog allowing you to control the stroke settings applied on minor ticks.
